Reminiscing about the past is a huge part of life, though in the gaming world, there are many frail, old and flat-out tired video game franchises (like Call Of Duty) whose instalments are far too recycled and indistinguishable. Meanwhile, there are others like Final Fantasy which I wish would just go away and rethink their priorities, because they are incapable of capturing their past glories.
Indeed, as proven by the remarkable sales
of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane trilogy, familiarity is often desired
more than innovation.
Therefore, because we’re all hypocrites, there are many buried franchises whose returns entire fanbases and gamers alike crave.
Series’ that were a huge part of
our childhood have been replaced by something inferior, being championed by somewhat idiotic and greedy
publishers. These franchises may have died due to not selling enough copies, becoming unrecognisable or for reasons I cannot fathom, but I – and I’m sure we – miss them.
Some have only been missing for fewer than five years, and others for much longer, but either way, I wish we could use a magic money-granting elixir to revive them all.
